Same as lots of other people, threatening legal action against me
Same as lots of other people. Bought the policy online for my 18 year old, no policy sent as I requested. When she passed in January she got a congratulations and a bill for £25 for cancelling a policy, which we didn't. Further threatening emails, letters even a phone call from there collection dept. I threatened them back with legal action and was simply told "go ahead it will only cost you more, you ticked a box to agree.. My advice. AVOID COLLINGWOOD

Harassment of a 17 year old
Only contact I had with them was when I took out the policy for my daughter online. Never received any documents. Car was never really used as I am a driving instructor and she learned in my car. When she passed the congrats came with a £25 fee for cancelling. They hassle you send nasty letters phone and text CONTINUALLY. I will be sure not to recommend collingwood to anyone I am teaching. YOU ARE NOT GETTING IT THREATING A 17 YEAR OLD WITH LEGAL ACTION . SHAME ON YOU.
Insurance scam many hidden fees
Insurance scam many hidden fees
Collingwood insurance is currently… will scam you out of money
Collingwood insurance is currently scamming thousands upon thousands learner drivers out of hidden fees, if you pass you test thay will not issue you with any unused premium payed and will fine you with a £ 35 fee for passing your test, and will black mail you, with holding any no claims bonus certificate, and will pester you with threatening phone calls and text messages demanding money from you, this is a scam, I advise you to avoid this company like the plague, and report them to trading standards, let the press know, ie newspapers, TV stations, social media, let your mp know, write to Martin lewis for help, the public need to know this is a insurance scam targeting very young learner drivers

Rip off company
Rip off company. Do not take out insurance. I took a £238 years policy and passed within 4 months. READ THE SMALL PRINT!!! I did not get 8 months refund. They have a clause that says they keep a huge percentage regardless and charge a large cancellation fee. I ended up with £27 back. So angry. Cost me over £52 a month to insure. Friends were paying less than £30 with more honest insurers
Beware
Beware! having paid for a 12 month policy for my daughter for £218...she past after 3 months, I got back £19.20?
they have justified this by a £40 cancellation fee and a % calculation which wipes out the payment. Great way to treat 17 year olds, disgusting approach and I hope people go elsewhere
Their calculation - You paid £218.01 – less the intermediary fee of £70.00 – the insurer premium is £88.81 the cancellation fee is £40.00 = a refund of £19.20
My fault for not reading the T&C's and relying on my previous experience of dealing with +30 car insurers who have always refunded a reasonable amount when ending a policy

Don’t read the 5* reviews from people…
Don’t read the 5* reviews from people who have just taken out the policy, read the 1* reviews from everyone who has just passed!!
The learner policy is cheap at the front end, but when you pass the driving test & you have to cancel the policy, they ring you up / hassle you, as there is then an admin fee to be paid to them plus a cancellation fee, so they chase you for extra money beyond what you paid at the start of the policy, despite it being in force for considerably less than the 12 months cover paid for.
It may be a good business model for them, but it is shocking customer service practice & this company should be avoided.

Absolutely disgusting service..
Absolutely disgusting service... Took out a learner policy which we used only for 2 months. I paid monthly to be sure it could be cancelled when my daughter passed her driving test. I was made aware that it was a £40 cancellation charge, which I thought was a bit steep, but it was only £20 something per month so thought it would still be way under £100... How wrong I was?!! They are now trying to also charge me 40% of the annual premium, which is nearly £120 on top of the cancellation!! Absolutely outrageous policy, and distinct lack of customer service skills when trying to deal with it.
They think because they still have my card details on file that they can steal the money which I haven't agreed too, but I will be contacting the bank if they take more than the 40 quid I knew about.
Those complaining about a £25 charge were lucky to be honest!

Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
Took out a learner policy which we paid for in full. Once my daughter passed her test, we notified them as the policy was now void. They charged £25 for cancelling the policy even though it would have been illegal to carry on using it. Basically, it is just a £25 fine for passing your test. Disgraceful customer service
Watch out for the £25 compulsory cancellation fee
Happy with the learner driver insurance policy UNTIL the driver passes their test.
At this point you have to notify them, AND pay a £25 cancellation fee.
There have been no claims or incidents etc, but still need to pay the £25
There is no way to avoid the fee, nice "surprise" gift for passing your test.
Yes it is in the terms and conditions, what is not clear is that passing the test constitutes cancelling your learner policy.
Maybe if you passed the test on the last day of your policy you would not be liable?
Anyway, they should either make it VERY CLEAR that £25 fee is due no matter what, or just add in £25 to the price of the policy.
Wish I'd seen these reviews before taking the policy.
Would not use or reccomend to anyone
Would not use or reccomend to anyone , after paying £250 for full years learners insurance we where stung with owing them £25 at the end of the policy which they cancelled 5 weeks short after doing a renual check , because my daughter passed her test . Apparently it's in the small print but not on the website, judging by others reviews and experiences it's an ongoing issue and a good money making scheme on there part .
£25 extra CON
Wish I had read some of the feedback left on here by others regarding Collingwood insurance cancellation policy. I too am being asked to pay an extra £25 after I supposedly cancelled my daughters learner insurance after she passed her test . It may be hidden in their terms and conditions but they really should make you more aware of this extra hidden cost when purchasing the policy . I shall be making the insurance ombudsman aware of their tactics . I don’t care what they say , it’s a CON . Be aware please , I definitely will not be using them again and will go out of my way to warn others through social media and word of mouth .

£25 cancellation fee when test passed
£25 cancellation fee when test passed. Buyer beware! Apparently in the terms and conditions. Really annoying extra charge. They should just include in the premium.
